Fluctuating around 1,280 points throughout the morning until early afternoon, VN-Index suddenly fell close to the reference point at the end of the session, due to great selling pressure.
Following the upward momentum of the previous three sessions, today’s stock market jumped to over 1,280 points in just the first 20 minutes of the session, an increase of about 10 points compared to the reference. After that, the market fluctuated slightly but quickly regained momentum from the banking, securities and steel groups to continue increasing, at times higher than 12 points. This index fluctuated around 1,280 points until the end of the morning with liquidity nearly double that of the previous session.
In the early afternoon, the cash flow remained strong as it poured into the market. The HoSE index then showed signs of falling, but at a moderate pace. Just after 2 p.m., selling pressure became more dominant and appeared in a rush on many stocks, and the market began to fall more sharply.
At the end of the session, VN-Index still increased but the amplitude was only about 0.77 points, up to 1,272 points, maintaining green color for four consecutive sessions.
The number of stocks increasing and decreasing on the HoSE floor was not too different, 224 codes and 185 codes respectively. VCB, VIC and VHM were the groups that caused the most disturbance to the market. On the other hand, the support for the VN-Index was the bluechip group, notably ACB, HPG and TCB.
By industry, oil and gas is the group with outstanding performance. PVD has liquidity of more than 293 billion VND, up 5% today. Followed by BSR with an accumulation of 2.1%. On the HNX, PVS also recorded a large transaction value with an increase of 3%. Recently, many securities companies have released analysis reports on oil and gas stocks with optimistic views on existing business results and future prospects.
For the first time in a month, liquidity on the HoSE floor exceeded the 20,000 billion mark. The total transaction value today reached more than 21,800 billion VND, an increase of more than 7,500 billion VND. The high liquidity in today’s volatile session shows that the market is in a sensitive phase, and a correction scenario is likely to occur. In addition, investor sentiment was also affected when foreign investors returned to net selling more than 300 billion VND after four consecutive sessions of prioritizing stock accumulation.
